Green Waste Compost Production Capacity - Feasibility Study for Wales (OMK007-201)

Closing date:
20 Aug 2012

This work, when combined with other work being delivered by the wider WRAP Organics & Energy from Waste programme, will have the overall objective of building end user and stakeholder awareness and confidence in quality AD and compost products, thereby increasing their specification and usage.

Specifically the work will:
 Increase Government and Industry stakeholder awareness of the evolving organics industry landscape in Wales.
 Make recommendations regarding potential interventions in the market place and to inform decisions on whether assistance, such as pump-prime funding, for example, for strategically located compost production is required and if so what mechanisms are best deployed.

Background and Scope of Work:
The successful contractor will be required to complete evidence gathering survey work across all 22 local authorities including local government, relevant producers and potential new producers (including 3rd sector)  to establish the current impacts of regulation and AD hub establishment on green waste compost production in Wales and the ability of the organics recycling industry to deliver current and future green waste recycling targets.
