Our research (1) identified that the amount of food being wasted post-farm-gate in the UK is around ten million tonnes, which is worth around £17 billion a year.  By being more resource efficient, food and drink businesses – from producers through to retail and hospitality outlets – could achieve significant cost savings.  Householders, who are responsible for over 70% of the food waste, could be nearly £500 better off a year by reducing the waste.
